Girls basketball won 56-45 in a hard battle against Notre Dame on Tuesday in Dooney Field House. Carmen Williams (18 points) and Kelsey Bess (16) had standout performances, with support from Kait Carter (8), Aleah Snead (8), Hayley Hunt (4) and Kait Hnatkowsky (2). Leading 27-18 at the half, Charter worked hard to maintain its upper hand in the fourth quarter as Notre Dame narrowed the gap. The Irish came within eight points of the Quakers in the final minutes of play, but Carter hit a layup and a big three-pointer to slow their momentum. The Quakers finish their regular season next Tuesday, Feb. 11, in Dooney Field House against Episcopal. Game time 5:30 pm.
Boys basketball lost to Episcopal by a score of 68-45 on Tuesday. The Quakers held their own through the first half of the game, leading 32-30 at the start of the third quarter, but the Churchmen came alive and outscored them 38-13 in the second half. Ryan Holmes led the day with 16 points, while Aaron Reisman added 10 and Mark Butler added eight. Trey Shinholster (6), Jameson Ford (2), Isaiah Grimes (2) and Anthony Ciarrocchi (2) all chipped in for the Quakers. The boys play their final Inter-Ac game this Friday against Springside Chestnut Hill in Dooney Field House at 7 pm.
