Fall Play Tickets on Sale Beginning Monday, Oct. 21 Charles Dickens' Ghost Stories Friday, Nov. 15, 7:30 pm, and Saturday, Nov. 16, 2:30 pm Beguiled in early childhood by his nursemaid's grim and ghoulish stories, Charles Dickens harbored all through his life a fascination with ghosts, apparitions and chilling coincidence. This play is a collection of eerie tales, told story-theater style, from the greatest storyteller of all. The stories are a lively mixture of comedy, pathos and the supernatural and include: "The Signal-man," "The Bagman's Uncle," "The Letter from Afar," "Trial for Murder," "The Queer Chair," "Sisters from Perth," "The Portrait Painter" and "The Lawyer and the Ghost." PC/GA Day Shirts on Sale Monday, Oct. 21 through Friday, Nov. 1 PC/GA Day shirts will be on sale starting next week every day during Upper School lunch, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays during Middle School lunch. K-12 Absentee Re-Take Picture Day Thursday, Oct. 24, 8 am-1 pm LS Lobby Students who didn't get their picture taken by Barksdale earlier this year and can't find their original Barksdale order form can print and bring one of these: Lower School; or Middle and Upper School. Students who wish to have their photos re-taken should bring their original package of prints from the Sept. 3, 4, or Oct. 3 sittings and give the packets to the photographer. Unlike a Parent Community meeting with a set agenda, the discussion at the head's breakfast is guided by the interests of participating parents. Parent Info Session for Cow House Studios Trip Tuesday, Oct. 22, 6:30-7:15 pm, Room 105 (Art Room) The school-sponsored trip to Cow House Studios in Ireland, June 7-16, 2020, is open to any Upper School student interested in making art in a beautiful setting. Cow House Studios' education program provides the guidance necessary for students to think independently and create with intent and purpose. Classes focus on individualized teaching while balancing observational skill and practiced craft with critical thinking and exposure to contemporary art. This trip offers our students the opportunity for sustained artistic investigation in a peaceful Irish landscape, in well-equipped studios, guided by experienced artist-educators. Middle School Squash Open House Sunday Oct. 27, 12:30-1:45 pm, Kline & Specter Squash Center Middle School students and parents are invited to learn more about the Penn Charter Squash program. Squash is a winter team sport at Penn Charter for boys and girls, and the program provides excellent developmental and competitive opportunities for student athletes through middle and high school. Come and meet the director of squash and MS coaching staff, and learn about the game and how well it complements athletic development in other sports, including tennis, field hockey, soccer and lacrosse. There will be time to get on court for students (and maybe parents!) and get a feel for the game under the guidance of the coaching staff and some of our current Middle and Upper School team players.
