Friends,
Thank you all for your patience and flexibility as we relaunch school. Our student orientations have run smoothly, and faculty are preparing for the start of classes. We are writing to provide some key information for the start of school:
- Student schedules are now visible in the Hub. You can see the specific blocks and teachers for courses. If you have any questions, please contact your student's advisor.
- Students' Blue or Yellow assignments for the year are listed in their profile in the Hub. See 2020-21 color groups. Students' traditional Color Day teams will remain the same.
- Below you will once again find the Upper School daily schedule for the first two weeks. Details about the week of Sept. 21 will accompany a communication next week.
- Please see our Upper Distance Learning Guide for norms and expectations for distance learning.
- Friday, Sept. 18, is the final day for students to make adjustments to their Semester 1 schedules. What does this mean?
- After Sept. 18, a student can no longer add a course to their Semester 1 schedule.
- A student can no longer drop any required course from their Semester 1 schedule after Sept. 18.
- Students interested in making a change to their Semester 1 schedules should contact Sandy Portnoy (sportnoy@penncharter.com) or Rachel Dyer (rdyer@penncharter.com) to see what courses are available and what fits into their schedules.
- Remember to include your student's advisor in these conversations.
- Friday, Sept. 18 is the deadline to submit proposals for independent studies. Students should make a copy of this form, complete it, and share it with Lee Payton (lpayton@penncharter.com) or Beth Glascott (bglascott@penncharter.com) by the deadline. Questions about this can be addressed to Beth Glascott or Lee Payton.
As we head into the Labor Day weekend, please remember that our behavior outside of Penn Charter impacts what happens here at Penn Charter. Please follow face covering, social distancing and other guidelines that have been set to keep our community safe. Each of us has an important role to play in safeguarding our community.
We all look forward to beginning the school year and continuing our work together.
In partnership,
Upper School Leadership Team
