Welcome Back! We look forward to seeing many of our pre-K to 2 students in person on Tuesday, (and some virtually), and to seeing all of our grade 3-12 students virtually. Our Return to School webpage contains helpful information on health and safety, important dates and previous school communications. Recording Google Meet Classes
During the year, we will be recording some class sessions that may have students' images for use by students unable to attend a class. The recordings will be shared internally on the Hub, the Penn Charter password-protected learning management system. Before a teacher records a class they will inform the class and ask anyone whose parents have opted out of recording to turn off their video during the recording. If you do not want your student's image recorded during distance learning, please contact Director of Educational Technology Michael Moulton (mmoulton@penncharter.com) so that he may relay your request to their teachers by the next school day. Find and Sync the Online Calendar
The school calendar is available on the school's website and on the Hub. You can sync the calendar to your own personal calendar; if you're unfamiliar with that process, here is a short video on how to sync all of those dates. Be sure to sync your divisional calendar and the All-School Calendar, which has school vacations, holidays and special days through the end of Semester 1 (in January). We expect there will be several changes to the calendar over the course of the 2020-21 school year as we adjust to learning during a pandemic, so consider using the online calendar rather than print and post a calendar. If you sync our calendars with your own, additions and changes will be reflected on your own calendar. SEED Program for Parents
We are excited to invite parents to participate in this year's SEED. The National SEED Project is a peer-led professional development program that creates conversational communities to drive personal, organizational and societal change toward greater equity and diversity. The program does this by training individuals to facilitate ongoing seminars within their own communities. More information, as well as a registration form, can be found here. Virtual Run for Peace Saturday, Sept. 12, 9 am The 15th annual Run for Peace is virtual this year, with members of the Penn Charter community from all over the country invited to participate. Start at 9 a.m. and choose your distance, choose your pace, choose your path. You are bound by no limits. All proceeds will benefit the Peter K. Ortale and Kenny Caldwell memorial scholarship funds. Details and registration. Pre-K to Grade 2, In-Person Learning A few reminders for Tuesday on campus, our first day of school! When families drive to their designated arrival locations, please remember that parents should remain in their vehicles — we will have teachers and teaching support staff there to escort students to their classrooms. We recognize this is not the procedure any one of us would choose, but we do it to mitigate risk for all. Please discuss with and prepare your child. For dismissal, we will also have a car pickup-line. If you have not already done so, please download the SchoolPass Parent & Student app and set up your account for dismissal. Here is a tutorial video for families. Use this password to access the video: +9GHLACR. The full arrival and dismissal details were in this email. One last reminder: Pack a lunch and a snack! 3000 West School House Lane Philadelphia, PA 19144 215.844.3460 unsubscribe |
