About Health, Wellness and Sexuality at Penn Charter
Penn Charter’s Health, Wellness and Sexuality Department partners with students to build a foundation for lifelong health, wellness and healthy sexuality through the school’s pre-K-12 curriculum and programming. By creating opportunities for students to build self-love, confidence and advocacy skills, the school fosters communities of care that support holistic health.
The “sexuality” component of the department encompasses nearly every aspect of a human being, from attitudes and values to feelings and experiences. The Lower School program focuses on developmentally targeted and medically accurate information on topics like bodies, human reproduction, bodily autonomy, consent, and puberty. Additionally, the program emphasizes diversity and inclusion of all types of families, relationships, gender identities, and sexual orientations.
