Staff Announcement

After 27 years, Liz Jones has decided that this will be her last year at Penn Charter. Liz has been an integral member of the Penn Charter community, touching the lives of everyone—students, colleagues and parents and caregivers alike—with her effervescent smile and consistent reminder to "choose joy." Her impact on students, colleagues and families has been both meaningful and lasting.

Whether you remember Liz fondly as “Ms. Crockett”  a devoted member of the Middle School, teaching English and serving as an advisor, or were fortunate to benefit from her gifts as an Upper School English teacher, yearbook advisor, or Restorative Practices coordinator, her impact on the Penn Charter community has been unmistakable and her devotion to Penn Charter’s mission and values unwavering. She has been committed to maintaining close relationships with her students long after they depart the red doors.

Liz has devoted countless hours to thoughtfully advising the Yearbook with care, guiding students through a complex, creative and meaningful project that captures the story of each school year. She has provided mentorship and guidance to hundreds of students who have been a part of the yearbook process over the last decade, and her legacy is woven into the fabric of Penn Charter’s history.

Her gifts as an educator helped prepare ninth grade students for the writing demands of the Upper School English program. Over the years, many of her students have shared that, through her teaching, Liz nurtured not only strong writers but also curious, thoughtful learners with a genuine love of language. She has a gift for honoring the Light and bringing out the promise and potential within her students, encouraging them to find their own voice. It is a testament to her lasting impact that so many OPCs credit Liz with shaping their paths—some even feeling led to become educators themselves, guided by her example, care and deep commitment to the growth of every student.

Liz's genuine passion for restorative practices work made her the ideal candidate to serve as the Upper School Restorative Practices Coordinator in recent years. Her enthusiasm for building community and ensuring everyone's voice is heard and valued has been felt throughout PC, during community play days in the Upper School, circle work throughout the division or simply by engaging her in conversation around campus. Our entire community has benefited from the time, talent and care she has brought to this work. Liz’s leadership of Penn Charter’s restorative efforts has been truly unprecedented, and she has laid a strong foundation upon which we will continue to build.

Please join us in expressing your gratitude and appreciation to Liz for the tremendous impact she has had on so many of us here at Penn Charter.
