3rd Grade Plastics Pollution Unit

After learning about the Lenape, the indigenous people who lived in this area and about plastic pollution, the third grade created videos to educate others in our community about the problem. They conducted surveys of their trash at home and at school, and wrote persuasive letters and succeeded in reducing the amount of single-use plastics used for packaging food in our cafeteria. In collaboration with Upper School students working toward a Global Environmental Certificate, third graders to learn about how other countries handle waste. In an effort to limit their own reliance on single-use plastics, third grade created reusable bags and straws.
