Students, families, friends, faculty and staff gathered at the Graham Athletics & Wellness Center to celebrate 53 fifth grade students at their Moving-Up Ceremony on Thursday, June 6.
Director of Lower School Marcy Sosa guided the 1:00 p.m. ceremony, with Head of School Karen Warren Coleman sharing remarks that congratulated students on their achievements. Jax Bari, Adam Steinig, Jordyn Shaw, Pierce Barsanti, Maeve Overcash, Meredith Grinwis, Lucy Uftring, Violet Yoo and Elsie Wilson shared inspirational words and reflections on their Lower School experiences. Beth Plaza, Rafi Halpern, Sophie Park and Chace Stuebner-Muir introduced a video presentation of the fifth grade.
Students sang "Graduation (Friends Forever)" by Vitamin C; "Old Penn Charter," arranged by W. Earnest Wells; and the traditional Lower School song, "As We Leave This Friendly Place," by Vincent Silliman. Bilon Cherry and Araceli Sosa delivered heartfelt farewell messages to their classmates. Wilson Felter, director of Middle School, concluded the ceremony by warmly welcoming the students as they embark on their next chapter in Middle School.
