Niyonu Spann is an activist, educator, public speaker and singer. In 1994 she founded Niyonu Spann Associates, which helps organizations to better align with their core principles through a holistic training program that includes team-building workshops, music and dance. Spann began her career teaching and working as an administrator at a high school before going on to pursue a Master’s degree in organizational development from American University. She is a board member of the American Friends Service Committee and dean of the Pendle Hill Center for Study and Contemplation. Her presentations combine oratory, poetry and song to engage audiences on an emotional and intellectual level. Spann will speak to the Upper School about the Quaker testimony of continuing revelation, Penn Charter’s theme for this year.
