Room Dedication Honors Tim Lynch

Tim Lynch Hon. 1689, longtime Upper School biology teacher and Middle School wrestling coach, has touched the lives of many at Penn Charter. In a small, surprise ceremony, Lynch was honored by having his classroom – Room 205 – named for him by an OPC family.

The classroom and lab are named with great respect and appreciation for his unwavering commitment to the student-teacher relationship in the study of science, and for his dedication to creating real-world experiences for his students.

Other teachers and administrators spoke fondly of their work with Lynch over the two decades he’s taught in Penn Charter’s science department. Each centered on a similar idea, that Lynch always put students at the center of everything. Whether determining curriculum, supporting a student struggling in classes, or just being a dad, Tim Lynch focused on making adjustments that would benefit the young learner as an individual person – first.

“It’s not just what you’ve done for our kids, but for all students – even those who didn’t love science, you brought them along. You bring out the best in every student,” said the family honoring Lynch with the room dedication.

With brevity and emotion, Lynch said of the honor, “This is very special. This school is home. This room is home.”
