James A. Bolden Jr. is the director of Day Camp. James joined the Middle School team at Penn Charter in August 2019 to teach seventh and eighth grade English and advise in the seventh grade. James is a familiar face to many on campus because he has worked with Penn Charter summer camps for seven years as a sports and games specialist. Prior to joining the Middle School team, James taught middle school English and social studies at Holy Child School at Rosemont and was an intern and English teacher at PC before that. James, his wife, Nicolette, and their son, Nicholas, who is currently in 10th grade, adore the Penn Charter community. In addition to the stellar counselors and staff, what James treasures and loves most about Penn Charter summer camps is “the pure fun and joy campers experience both in and outdoors.”

Christopher Burnett is the assistant director of Day Camp. Chris has been at Penn Charter for 24 years, teaching math in Lower School and coaching basketball at many levels, from fourth grade enrichment to Upper School varsity. Chris has been an active member of the Penn Charter Day Camp family for longer than he has been here as a teacher and coach – almost 30 years – and has served as assistant director of Day Camps for more than 25 years. Chris's sons Ryan and Dylan (OPC '17) have attended camp and served as counselors, and his wife, Cindy, was a beloved junior bunk counselor for many years. What has impressed Chris most about camp over the years is watching students from various walks of life find the opportunity to create new relationships and maintain them as they return each summer. "I have watched some of our campers since they were in the junior bunks," he said, "and I am now seeing photos of them as they get married and begin their own families. It's an amazing gift to watch how our campers grow and take flight on their own over the years!"
