Artist Statement

I really like this photo because it not only has a really bright color scheme, but I love the effect that the flame has. It helps provide some balance to the image, as there are objects in the foreground, middle ground, as well as the background. It appears as if the dog is looking at the flame, guiding the viewers' eyes across the photo.


I got this photo of Nate as he was doing backflips across the pole vaulting pad. I love this image because it's clear that there is a lot of movement in a short amount of time but I was able to capture a split second of his flip. I tilted the camera a bit to help emphasize the motion of doing a flip, as there is a slight angle that compliments the subject who is in midair.
