Color Day
One of Penn Charter's most cherished traditions is Color Day, hosted every year on the Friday before Memorial Day Weekend in May.
Established in 1892, it is an annual gathering of the PC community—students, teachers, staff, families and alumni—for a friendly spirited competition between two teams representing PC's colors, blue and yellow. The fun begins with the kindergarten relay and continues grade by grade until seniors finish the competition with a rope pull.
Teams and competitions are organized by the PC Health & Physical Education Department, and each grade from kindergarten to 12 has its own event. Students begin practicing for their races weeks before Color Day, so they're all prepped to face off — Blue against Yellow!

New to Color Day?
New students, beginning in kindergarten, are assigned colors by the Penn Charter Physical Education Department—and they retain their color team assignment forever!
Pre-K students do not compete in the races, but they come to the field with their classmates and are encouraged to cheer on the other kids and the school as a whole.
The kids begin practicing their races in PE a few weeks before Color Day so they're all prepped to face off—Blue vs. Yellow!
All students wear navy shorts and blue or yellow shirts, depending on their team color. Those shirts can be blue or yellow shirts sold in the School Store or the blue and yellow spirit shirts sold by the Penn Charter Family Association.
