In the tradition of the William Penn Charter School’s Statement of Philosophy, the Valuing Innovative Teaching and Learning program (VITAL) allows educators to be life-long learners and reflective practitioners. VITAL’s mission is to provide faculty with substantial funding, comparable to median faculty salaries for projects lasting one to four weeks, during the summer months to allow for the transformation of their craft through research, collaboration, and innovation. The ultimate goal of VITAL is to provide students with an outstanding, current, and meaningful education.

Application Information 

All VITAL applicants are asked to submit a one-paragraph mini-abstract in advance of the full application. This one paragraph should be submitted by in February as a Google Doc with editing permission shared with Marianne Master and David Brightbill. The VITAL Selection Committee will read your paragraph and give you feedback and suggestions to help you complete the full application due in March 2024.

The links to the VITAL application and the rubric that the VITAL selection committee will use to review applications are provided below. The VITAL finalists will be interviewed by the Selection Committee sometime in March.
