What a Day for PC Football!

Irish in the House & Another Inter-Ac Win

The argument can be made: This was the coolest day in PC's storied football history.

With PC's players, adorned in special T-shirts, among the witnesses, the fun began in the morning as the new turf field hosted a 45-minute, walk-through practice for Notre Dame and OPC '13 offensive tackle Mike McGlinchey.

After a rough start (14-0 deficit), the fun continued in the afternoon as the Quakers downed Episcopal Academy, 42-35. Junior QB Mike "Neeko" Hnatkowsky was part of all six TDs, passing for the first five (while going 17-for-21 for 327 yards; 10 short of the school record) and scoring the last one on a QB sneak of roughly four inches. Junior DB Denarii Beard clinched the win with an interception.

Honoring the memory of his grandfather, Stephen Greene, who passed away last Monday, junior WR Chris Tucker turned six catches into 163 yards and three TDs. His 43-yard snag placed the ball on the 3, setting up the winning TD. senior RB Jake McCain, McGlinchey's first cousin, rushed 18 times for 104 yards and scored the final points on a conversion catch.

Go Charter!

The spirit of Penn Charter athletics is built on a storied tradition of excellence and the belief that the interplay of academics, arts and athletics leads to strong, creative, resilient and flexible people.

Skilled teachers and coaches help our students understand – whether on the playing field or in the classroom – how to collaborate and compete, how to win with grace, and how to handle challenges and setbacks.

Our school cheer is: Go Charter!

We appreciate the student athletes who are now powering PC to great feats, and look forward to welcoming those who will do so in the future. Also, of course, we eternally appreciate the efforts of all OPCs!
