Varsity Wrestling Opens Season
The 2015-16 season for varsity wrestling started Saturday at the Germantown Academy Tournament, and 17 teams competed.
Though PC was shorthanded, the four guys who wrestled varsity fared well. Freshman TJ Henry’s performance was a highlight; he battled to the final thanks to an upset win in the semis over the No. 1 seed. In the final, he lost a tough bout to a Blair Academy wrestler who had placed at the national tournament last year. Junior Billy Costello was probably the second best wrestler, finishing third. Senior James Frye finished fourth and Alex Koenig had the most improved day, finishing fifth.
The team travels to Springfield High School next Saturday to compete in their dual tournament.
