Squash Update, Highlights

The varsity squash teams faced some extra stiff competition Tuesday and dropped both matches.

Against visiting Haverford School, one of the top teams in the country, the boys fell by 9-0. In the No. 6 spot, sophomore Ben Swanson came the closest to winning a game.

"The boys fought hard for every single point . . . and showed great spirit," said coach Damon Leedale-Brown.

The girls traveled to Episcopal Academy, which placed third last season in the National Championships, and lost by 7-2. The highlight, by far, was a 3-1 win for ninth grader Elisabeth Ross in the No. 1 spot, against an opponent who boasts a national rep. At No. 6, classmate Mia Bezar took her foe to the limit while losing, 3-2.

Leedale-Brown said the team "played some great squash and continued to show excellent progress. The girls were proud of their performance and look forward to Thursday's match with SCH Academy.
