Home Swim Meet Ends in a Split

PC's varsity swimming teams competed Wednesday vs. Hill School in their final home meets of the 2015-16 season and the overall result was a split. The boys triumped, 101-82, while the girls were topped, 97-89.

Senior Jack Mahoney earned four firsts. He clocked 21.43 in the 50-yard freestyle and 46.88 in the 100 freestyle. In relays, he anchored the 200 freestyle (1:28.72) and held down the No. 3 spot for 200 medley (1:43.04). Junior Evan McFadden stormed to personal bests while winning the 200 individual medley (2:06.91) and 100 breaststroke (1:02.4). Senior Tripp Griffith won the 500 freestyle (5:17.12) and placed second in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.97).

Also, junior Brendan Cellucci took one for the team and competed in diving. He posted three points, received numerous props from his teammates and resisted the temptation to uncork a cannonball.

For the girls, sophomore Madison Freeland owned the 200 (2:01.34) and 500 freestyle (5:33.84). Two of the Lopez-Ona triplets -- they're only eighth-graders! -- also enjoyed big moments. Marissa captured the 200 individual medley (2:19.83) and 100 breaststroke (1:14.97) while Gabby placed second in 200 freestyle (2:01.34) before rolling to victory in 100 butterfly (59.98).
