Girls and Boys BBall Mix Results

Another day, another split for the boys/girls varsity basketball teams.

The girls conquered Notre Dame, 43-41, thanks mostly to effective ball movement (11 assists on 13 field goals) and craftsmanship at the line (14-for-16).

Senior Hannah Fox added five assists and four steals to 13 points. She notched seven of her markers down the stretch after ND used a quick, 8-0 run to storm within 31-30. Senior Ayanna Matthews and junior Mireyah "Rey" Davis halved 18 points, junior Lexi Hnatkowsky swept seven boards, soph Grace Stansfield scored two points and senior sub Taylor Zahairagunn created quite the stir when she freed herself for a layup right before the halftime buzzer.

Fox hit both ends of a double-bonus with 4.8 seconds remaining to create a five-point lead. ND then swished a trey.

The boys opened the on-campus doubleheader by falling to Episcopal Academy, 47-39. In the teams' first meeting, right up the street at Philadelphia University in the Inter-Ac's opening tripleheader, PC had registered a 52-36 victory.

EA sewed up this one with a 10-for-10 performance at the foul line in the final 1 minute, 37 seconds.

PC received 10 points from junior Adam Holland. No Quaker claimed more than three rebounds.

Go Charter!

The spirit of Penn Charter athletics is built on a storied tradition of excellence and the belief that the interplay of academics, arts and athletics leads to strong, creative, resilient and flexible people.

Skilled teachers and coaches help our students understand – whether on the playing field or in the classroom – how to collaborate and compete, how to win with grace, and how to handle challenges and setbacks.

Our school cheer is: Go Charter!

We appreciate the student athletes who are now powering PC to great feats, and look forward to welcoming those who will do so in the future. Also, of course, we eternally appreciate the efforts of all OPCs!
