Ross Ranked Squash No. 1 U17

Penn Charter swimmer Reece Whitley, recently honored as Sports Illustrated's SportsKid of the Year, is not alone in the national spotlight.

Squash sensation Elisabeth Ross, a ninth grader, is ranked No. 1 in the USA in the U17 category!

PC coach Damon Leedale-Brown said Elisabeth earned the top spot thanks to recent performances in National Junior Circuit events in San Francisco (first place) and Baltimore (third place). Come March, the NJC championships will be held at Harvard and Elisabeth will be a top seed.

Leedale-Brown described Elisabeth's rise as "a fantastic achievement."

On social media, her dad, Bill, for good reason, was rather excited. He posted: After many, many years of hard work, E is #1 in the USA!!!!!! Congrats to our daughter!!! The hard work paid off!!! Her reign as #1 in the USA – however brief it may be – is the culmination of fierce determination and much grueling work, learning player by player how to defeat each one . . . . I'm basking in the accomplishment of this near impossible feat!!

Congrats to Elisabeth/E!

The spirit of Penn Charter athletics is built on a storied tradition of excellence and the belief that the interplay of academics, arts and athletics leads to strong, creative, resilient and flexible people.

Skilled teachers and coaches help our students understand – whether on the playing field or in the classroom – how to collaborate and compete, how to win with grace, and how to handle challenges and setbacks.

Our school cheer is: Go Charter!

We appreciate the student athletes who are now powering PC to great feats, and look forward to welcoming those who will do so in the future. Also, of course, we eternally appreciate the efforts of all OPCs!
