Hoops Teamwork Tops Haverford

They say life lessons can be taught through sports.
They're right.
After getting humbled Tuesday at home by Haverford School, 61-43, the boys basketball varsity met that same opponent on the road Thursday and toughed out a 57-55 victory, thus concluding Inter-Ac play with a 4-6 record.
Due to injury, junior Adam Holland was unavailable. Senior sub Jake McCain stepped into the starting lineup and nailed three treys for nine points. Oh, and in the last second, he leaped to block a jumper from just beyond the foul line that would have forced overtime.
Junior Dylan Burnett (acrobatic steal, free throws), senior Evan Ferrell (blocked shot), senior Harrison Williams (offensive rebound of a missed free throw), soph Mason Williams (two free throws), junior Mike "Neeko" Hnatkowsky (perfect, lengthy inbound pass — hey, he's the quarterback) and frosh Ryan Holmes (big free throw) also made significant contributions over the final 67 seconds.
Talk about teamwork!
H. Williams (16) and M. Williams (13) scored in double figures.
The Quakers (12-9) are now assured of finishing the season with a winning record. Non-league games against Simon Gratz and Academy of the New Church have been canceled. However, ANC, on Feb. 19, will be PC's opponent in the first round of the PAISAA tournament.

Go Charter!

The spirit of Penn Charter athletics is built on a storied tradition of excellence and the belief that the interplay of academics, arts and athletics leads to strong, creative, resilient and flexible people.

Skilled teachers and coaches help our students understand – whether on the playing field or in the classroom – how to collaborate and compete, how to win with grace, and how to handle challenges and setbacks.

Our school cheer is: Go Charter!

We appreciate the student athletes who are now powering PC to great feats, and look forward to welcoming those who will do so in the future. Also, of course, we eternally appreciate the efforts of all OPCs!
