Hard Work Pays Off at Easterns!

In the 116th Eastern Interscholastic Swimming and Diving Championships, held Friday and Saturday at La Salle University, PC swam strong and fast and placed fifth among all teams in both meets.

PC girls scored 236 points — the highest point total (236) in PC recorded history at Easterns — while the boys had 223.5. The boys scored the second most points in school history, 2.5 pts behind the 2009 Quakers.Go Charter!

@PCAquatics, Coach Brian Hecker tweeted: "Amazing season for both the boys and girls teams. Tons of hard work. Tons of fun! #sendem #team #momentum"

Reece Whitley keeps on really wowing. PC's super soph set not one, but TWO meet records. Those marks were posted in the 200 individual medley (1:47.55) and the 100 breaststroke (52.97) and that latter time was a tick short of the national record (52.92).

Whitley also was part of relay squads that posted second place finishes. In the 200 medley, Jake Brogan, Reece, Jack Mahoney and Tripp Griffith (the other three are seniors) clocked 1:33.17. In the 200 freestyle, Reece, Jack, Tripp and soph Andrew Morris posted a time of 1:23.56.

The Quakers claimed three thirds — Mahoney in the 50 freestyle (20.93) and the 100 freestyle (45.67); senior Willow Tierno in 1-meter diving (418.85 points) — while eighth grader Marissa Lopez-Ona seized the No. 4 spot in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.33).
