Softball Wins in a No-Hitter

Varsity softball increased its dominance Saturday.

Not only did coach Doc Mittica's squad raise its overall record to 12-0 with a non-league victory, it won by 15-0 while completely shutting down the opposition.

The non-league victim was Shipley, which suffered through a combined no-hitter.

Eighth-grader Anastasia Lewis – talk about a bright future – pitched the first three innings, posting four strikeouts and one walk. Soph Ava Nicolucci (shown above, at right) handled the last two frames; she walked one.

In the fourth inning, junior Briggite Gutpelet made a great catch in left field to preserve the no-no.

The offensive highlight was a grand slam by junior Faith Fenton, the team's No. 1 pitcher. Senior Eileen Hennessy (double) posted three RBI while Gutpelet (double) and soph Grace Stansfield had two apiece. Senior Zoe Neefe lashed a triple.

Our school cheer is: Go Charter!

We appreciate the student athletes who are now powering PC to great feats, and look forward to welcoming those who will do so in the future. Also, of course, we eternally appreciate the efforts of all OPCs!
