Tuesday Recap: Three for Four

On neighboring campus fields, PC claimed a trio of varsity victories Tuesday.

Baseball's win was the most noteworthy, both for the score (1-0) and the fact the opponent (Malvern) was atop the Inter-Ac League standings.

Lefties Brendan Cellucci (junior, shown here) and Mike Siani (soph) combined for the win. Cellucci totaled 106 pitches over 5 1/3 innings and Siani retired all five batters he faced.

Malvern put together promising, one-out rallies in the fifth and sixth. Each was thwarted by two strikeouts; by Cellucci, then Siani.

PC scored in the first on consecutive singles by junior James Gabor, freshman Sammy Siani and his brother, Mike.

Junior shortstop Dom Toso and junior second baseman Brendan Pell made nice defensive plays in the seventh to keep Malvern's offense quiet.

Softball throttled Baldwin, 13-2, in five innings. Junior Faith Fenton pitched the first four innings. Ninth grader Abby Manion went 2-for-3 with three RBI while junior Brigitte Gutpelet went 2-for-4 with a triple, two RBI and two runs scored.

Girls lacrosse outlasted Baldwin, 8-7. Juniors Courtney Cubbin (three) and Macaul Mellor (two) topped the scoring list, senior Meredith Chernak dealt two assists, senior Hannah Fox won three draws and eighth grader Hayley Hunt made nine saves.

Boys lacrosse traveled to Malvern. In a 15-5 setback, senior Drew Gallant had two assists.
