Golf and Soccer Highlights from Thursday

A shade over half a month later, Penn Charter showed it still had La Salle's golf number.

Back on Aug. 29, in an away match at North Hills Country Club, the Quakers posted a 228-239 win. The teams played again Thursday at Huntingdon Valley CC and PC claimed victory at 227-234.

That score, PC's best of the season, was achieved thanks to junior Noah Schwartz (35), the Isztwan brothers (junior Brian and eighth grader Patrick, 38 apiece), senior Joey Centeno, sophomore Dylan Topaz (also 38 apiece for those guys) and junior Blake Target (40).

On campus, meanwhile, boys soccer battled Shipley to a scoreless tie.

PC had three decent opportunities beyond regulation, but could not quite convert. With 30 seconds remaining, senior goalie Jay Jennings made a game-saving stop against a Shipley player who'd gotten behind the defense. The Quakers had pushed upfield with the hope of pumping home a goal.

Above, PC's Andrew Morris (L) battles for a head ball.

Go Charter!

The spirit of Penn Charter athletics is built on a storied tradition of excellence and the belief that the interplay of academics, arts and athletics leads to strong, creative, resilient and flexible people.

Skilled teachers and coaches help our students understand – whether on the playing field or in the classroom – how to collaborate and compete, how to win with grace, and how to handle challenges and setbacks.

Our school cheer is: Go Charter!

We appreciate the student athletes who are now powering PC to great feats, and look forward to welcoming those who will do so in the future. Also, of course, we eternally appreciate the efforts of all OPCs!
