Second-Chance Goals for Girls Soccer

William Penn Charter School Philadelphia private Inter-Ac soccer

There's a reason soccer coaches tell their players not to feel give up if a decent shot is stopped by the goalie.

The ball does not always remain in the goalie's hands and it's still possible to . . . score!
Thursday, Penn Charter's girls soccer team edged visiting SCH Academy, 2-1, and the goals were second-chancers.

Soph Ally Paul recorded the first tally and did so by pounding home the rebound of her own stopped shot. With 31 minutes remaining in the second half, junior Gi DeMarco uncorked a shot from the right side. The saved ball squirted to a spot near the left post and eighth grader Kait Haughey (shown here on a different play) knocked it into the net. Junior Mack Listman finished with six saves. Also Thursday, the Inter-Ac's Individual Golf Championships were held at Aronimink Golf Club. For the first time all season, the competitors played 18 holes instead of the usual nine.

Three PC guys could be found within the eight threesomes. Junior Brian Isztwan fared the best, shooting 76 for a tie for seventh. Junior Noah Schwartz and senior Joey Centeno shot 80 and 82, respectively. More photos.

Go Charter!

The spirit of Penn Charter athletics is built on a storied tradition of excellence and the belief that the interplay of academics, arts and athletics leads to strong, creative, resilient and flexible people.

Skilled teachers and coaches help our students understand – whether on the playing field or in the classroom – how to collaborate and compete, how to win with grace, and how to handle challenges and setbacks.

Our school cheer is: Go Charter!

We appreciate the student athletes who are now powering PC to great feats, and look forward to welcoming those who will do so in the future. Also, of course, we eternally appreciate the efforts of all OPCs!
