Two Top-10 Runners at Inter-Ac XC Champs

The Inter-Ac League held its cross country championships Monday on the 3.1 mi course – 5,000 meters, if you prefer – at Belmont Plateau, and two Penn Charter runners earned Top 10 finishes.

Senior Harper Pollio-Barbee placed eighth in the boys race with a time of 18 minutes, 16.6 seconds. Among the girls, ninth grader Sophia Solomon claimed seventh at 21:47.8.

Six other boys finished in the Top 40:

Blaise Ciarrocchi, junior, 25, 19:59.7.
Luke Brogan, junior, 27, 20:20.9.
Luke Jaspan, freshman, 28, 20:11.5.
Timur Serbest, soph, 32, 20:29.6.
Joshua Patton, senior, 37, 21:03.8.
Jordan Steinhouse, junior, 38, 21:13.6.

Four other girls finished in the Top 40:
Alicia Newman, freshman, 21, 23:31.1.
Hadley Ball, soph, 33, 24:47.7.
Rosemary Kaufman, senior, 34, 24:51.9.
Marilyn Pease, senior, 39, 26:18.9.

The boys placed sixth, the girls raced to fifth.

  • five grass playing fields, two synthetic turf fields, one all-weather, eight-lane track, seven tennis courts, 10 squash courts, four basketball courts, and one swimming pool.
  • PC has four buildings designated for athletics: Graham Athletics Center — with the new Blaine A. Steinberg OPC '11 Center for Fitness and Performance  Kline & Specter Squash Center, Ray Dooney Field House, and the Old Gym.
