XC and Boys Soccer Weekend Results

The future is looking bright for Penn Charter's girls cross country team, and further confirmation was provided Saturday as the Quakers competed at Belmont Plateau in the PAISAA state championships.

PC placed fifth among 11 schools with 133 points and the leaders were two ninth graders – Sophia Solomon, 14th overall in 21:46.8; Alicia Newman, 22nd in 22:23.3 – and a sophomore, Mary McDavid (20th in 22:18.2).

The boys placed 11th among 16 schools with 260 points. Senior Harper Pollio-Barbee took the ninth spot with a time of 17:26.9.

Boys soccer made the journey to Malvern and earned a 2-1 victory. Junior Matt Kestenbaum scored the first goal and frosh Jude Shorr-Parks assisted junior Andrew Morris for the second.

Penn Charter has provided student athletes with resources to match their talents. On 44 acres, Penn Charter offers its players and fans:

  • five grass playing fields, two synthetic turf fields, one all-weather, eight-lane track, seven tennis courts, 10 squash courts, four basketball courts, and one swimming pool.
  • PC has four buildings designated for athletics: Graham Athletics Center — with the new Blaine A. Steinberg OPC '11 Center for Fitness and Performance  Kline & Specter Squash Center, Ray Dooney Field House, and the Old Gym.
