Swimming Takes Two from Plymouth-Whitemarsh

Friday offered double wins for the Wet Sets.

In away meets vs. Plymouth-Whitemarsh, the girls swimming won by 110-73 and the boys . . . whoa, they used clutch performances in the final event, the 400-yard freestyle relay, to triumph by 93-91.

Freshman Cooper Berkoff, senior Evan McFadden, junior Sean McLafferty and junior Reece Whitley clocked 3:26.64 for eight points while freshman Zion Weeks, senior Brendan Cellucci, freshman Bret Brogan and senior Emmet Foley posted 3:28.27 for two.

For the girls, freshman Marissa Lopez-Ona was a double winner thanks to strong performances in the 200 individual medley (2:15.43) and 100 breaststroke (1:09.66). Other individual winners: junior Madison Freeland in the 100 freestyle (56.55), soph Annika Murray in the 100 backstroke (1:04.25), frosh Avery Myers in one-meter diving (207.65 points).

The basketball teams traveled to Germantown Academy for their first games in a two-day showcase event and were unable to leave with a victory.

The girls fell to Archbishop Ryan, 58-48, while the boys were topped by Simon Gratz, 54-41.

Senior Mireyah "Rey" Davis led the girls with 12 points. Classmate Adam Holland had 16 for the boys.
