Saturday at Great Valley High, in the R. Joseph Kellerman Relays, Penn Charter's boys track team leapt to victory in all three jumping events.

Senior Akeem Blake was the headliner in all three, taking first in the high jump (6-4) and triple (42-11 1/2) and fourth in the long (21-3 1/2). His respective partners were soph Patrick Gabor (6-0 for fourth), junior Tzion Jones (37-11 for sixth) and freshman Akeel Blake (20-4 1/2 for fifth).

Athletes always want to feel as though their teammates are brothers. Or sisters. And sometimes they are, literally. The Blake brothers, Akeem and Akeel, pictured above, won in the long jump together.

Coming off his victory Friday in the 110 high hurdles at Abington, senior Dylan Burnett switched gears and took first place in the 300 intermediate hurdles (40.77).

Senior Chris Tucker (22.71) and soph Edward Saydee (23.28) claimed first and fifth in the 200, senior Harper Pollio-Barbee posted his second best time in the 800 (2:02.63 for eighth) and the shot put tandem of seniors Billy Costello and John Grace picked up medals.

For the girls, ninth graders Jalynn Johnson, Miranda Listman and Sara Shipon teamed with soph Mary McDavid to claim fourth in the 4x800 relay at 10:13.08.

Also, senior Felicia Robinson and frosh Anne Flemming combined to take third in the triple jump relay while junior Jernee Watson and senior Karly Kessler medaled in the pole vault.

Go Charter!

The spirit of Penn Charter athletics is built on a storied tradition of excellence and the belief that the interplay of academics, arts and athletics leads to strong, creative, resilient and flexible people.

Skilled teachers and coaches help our students understand – whether on the playing field or in the classroom – how to collaborate and compete, how to win with grace, and how to handle challenges and setbacks.

Our school cheer is: Go Charter!

We appreciate the student athletes who are now powering PC to great feats, and look forward to welcoming those who will do so in the future. Also, of course, we eternally appreciate the efforts of all OPCs!
