Ninth Graders Row to Success

Here's hoping, even expecting, that the names of Gabriella Mancini and Riley McDade will be making many more appearances at the top of rowing results lists.

They're only ninth graders and Sunday on the Schuylkill River, in the fifth Manny Flick event of the spring, they combined to claim first place in the freshman/novice 2X race. Their time was 6:22.20.

In the boys JV 2X, junior Matt Kestenbaum and soph Matt Groshens placed third at 5:29.33.

Other performances of note: senior Tristan Laurencio and junior Mitch Sibson, second in heat in lightweight 2X (5:31.10); senior Steve Flemming, third in heat in varsity 1X (5:36.83); sophs Lucy Alter, Sydney Nixon and Zoe Tierno and junior Maria Perry, sixth overall in JV 4X (5:41.17); and juniors Victoria Watson and Anna Pogrebivsky, fourth in lightweight 2X (6:10.69).

Go Charter!

The spirit of Penn Charter athletics is built on a storied tradition of excellence and the belief that the interplay of academics, arts and athletics leads to strong, creative, resilient and flexible people.

Skilled teachers and coaches help our students understand – whether on the playing field or in the classroom – how to collaborate and compete, how to win with grace, and how to handle challenges and setbacks.

Our school cheer is: Go Charter!

We appreciate the student athletes who are now powering PC to great feats, and look forward to welcoming those who will do so in the future. Also, of course, we eternally appreciate the efforts of all OPCs!
