Baseball Wins Inter-Ac!

Penn Charter is your 2017 outright Inter-Ac baseball champion.

Thanks in large part to senior lefty Brendan "Chooch" Cellucci, who scattered four hits while posting 14 strikeouts and lashing a run-scoring single, the visiting Quakers on Friday topped Germantown Academy, 9-0, to raise their league record to 8-1 with one game remaining (home on Thursday, also vs. GA).

Senior James Gabor (double), junior Mike Siani and seniors Dom Toso and Oliver Cataldi (singles) also turned hits into RBI while seniors Adam Holland and Joey Lancellotti lofted sacrifice flies. The other runs came home on a fielder's choice off Gabor's bat and a bases-loaded walk to senior Steve Lorenz.

Overall, coach David Miller's squad is 19-1. PC's most recent titles were earned in 2014 (shared) and 2009 (outright).

The softball squad rocked Baldwin, 17-2, in five innings.

Freshman Maddie Solow stroked two hits while reaching base five times, scoring three runs and bagging two RBI. Senior Brigitte Gutpelet also went the three-runs, two-RBI route while junior Grace Stansfield had a double, three RBI.

Senior Faith Fenton pitched the first four innings to earn the win.

The lacrosse teams pulled off a sweep. The boys bested GA, 10-6, and the girls topped Baldwin, 8-5. Senior Luke Stansfield led the way with two goals on the boys side.

We appreciate the student athletes who are now powering PC to great feats, and look forward to welcoming those who will do so in the future. Also, of course, we eternally appreciate the efforts of all OPCs!
