Girls Water Polo Looks Strong in Close Loss

The final result failed by just a little to cause major elation, but coach Brian Hecker was reasonably happy Wednesday after Penn Charter's girls water polo team, playing for the second consecutive day, dropped a 12-11 decision to visiting Hill School.

For one thing, soph Hayley Hunt turned all seven of her shots into goals.

For another, after finding themselves in an 8-4 hole after the second quarter, the Quakers kept fighting.

"It was the team's most complete effort of the season," Hecker noted. "We played three excellent quarters (aside from the 5-1 second). We had great movement, which drew a lot of man advantages."

Hunt also had two steals, as did senior Greer Guyer. Junior goalies Abbey Quinn and Zoe Tierno also played well.

This, of course, is only early October.

"Still room to grow," Hecker reminded us.
