Look Back: Players Who Averaged Double Figures
For the first time in 14 seasons, and ninth in 35, at least three Penn Charter boys basketball players averaged double figures in Inter-Ac League games.
This season's qualifiers were seniors Mason Williams (17.8) and Will Samuel (11.6), and sophomore Ryan "Pooch" Holmes (11.5).
Once in the last 35 campaigns, four Quakers averaged at least 10. That feat was accomplished in '03 thanks to Rob Kurz (18.3), Sean Singletary (16.1), Zack Zeglinski (13.5) and Matt Ryan (11.4).
Kurz and Singletary played in the NBA. Ryan is the Atlanta Falcons' long-time quarterback. The 1983-84 team is pictured above in a photo from the yearbook archive.
This year's boys and girls squads take on Friends Central this afternoon in the first round of the state tournament; both games are in Dooney Field House, girls at 4 pm, boys at 5:30 pm.
