Girls Lacrosse Strong in Win over Shipley

Girls lacrosse earned a dominant 16-6 win over the Shipley School on Saturday at the Katie Samson Festival at Radnor High School.

After establishing a 6-2 lead at halftime, the Quakers added 10 more goals in the second half to earn an impressive win.

Freshman Kaylee Dyer and eighth-grader Darcy Felter lead PC, scoring four goals and three goals, respectively. Freshman Mia Ferraro and junior Emma Wilson each contributed two goals.

The team will play next when they host Springside Chestnut Hill Academy at home on Tuesday, May 1.

Boys lacrosse also represented Penn Charter at the Katie Samson Festival on Saturday, but suffered a tough 17-8 loss to the Brunswick School.

Senior Ryan Dickson, senior Blake Target and eighth-grader Peter Malitas all scored two goals for the Quakers in the defeat. Junior Gavin Tygh and freshman Antonio DeMarco also contributed goals for PC. The team will travel to Moorestown High School in New Jersey for their next game on Wednesday, May 2.

Boys track & field concluded competition at Penn Relays on Saturday as the 4x400 relay took home a 5th place finish. Junior Edward Saydee, junior Alex Turner, sophomore Akeel Blake and sophomore Marcellus Poland finished with a quick time of 3:31. The boys will travel to Malvern Prep for an away meet on Wednesday, May 2, to take on Malvern and Germantown Academy.

Baseball traveled to Archbishop Carroll for an away game on Saturday, but fell 7-2. The team will be back in action on Tuesday, May 1, when they host Episcopal Academy at home.

Penn Charter has provided student athletes with resources to match their talents. On 44 acres, Penn Charter offers its players and fans:

  • five grass playing fields, two synthetic turf fields, one all-weather, eight-lane track, seven tennis courts, 10 squash courts, four basketball courts, and one swimming pool.
  • PC has four buildings designated for athletics: Graham Athletics Center — with the new Blaine A. Steinberg OPC '11 Center for Fitness and Performance  Kline & Specter Squash Center, Ray Dooney Field House, and the Old Gym.
