Boys Lax and Softball Win Non-League Games

Boys lacrosse hosted Southern Lehigh at home yesterday and earned a strong 13-7 win. Penn Charter established a tight 4-3 lead heading into halftime before adding nine goals in the second half to extend the lead and seal the victory.

Senior Blake Target had an impressive game, scoring five goals. Junior Gavin Tygh and senior Luke Brogan each added two goals for PC. Additionally, junior Nick DiCicco and eighth-grader Peter Malitas also found the net in a strong team performance.

The team will prepare for their next game, Friday, May 11, when they host Germantown Academy for an important game at home on Perrott Field.

Softball earned a 3-0 shutout victory over Plymouth Whitemarsh at home on Monday. Freshman Abby Brown got the Quakers on the scoreboard in the fifth inning with a RBI double to take a 1-0 lead.

PC added two more runs in the sixth inning to extend the lead and cap the win. The team will play next when they travel to Friends Select School on Wednesday, May 9.

Boys tennis hosted Germantown Friends at home on Monday and suffered a tough 4-3 loss. The team dropped several competitive matches early, but earned three wins in doubles competition.

Tom Bradbeer/Justin Ko, Alex Shipon/Jake Cutler, and David Garnick/Rohan Bhambhani all earned victories in two sets. The team will host Germantown Academy at home today on Rieger Courts.

  • five grass playing fields, two synthetic turf fields, one all-weather, eight-lane track, seven tennis courts, 10 squash courts, four basketball courts, and one swimming pool.
  • PC has four buildings designated for athletics: Graham Athletics Center — with the new Blaine A. Steinberg OPC '11 Center for Fitness and Performance  Kline & Specter Squash Center, Ray Dooney Field House, and the Old Gym.
