Boys lacrosse earned a strong 13-6 win over Springside Chestnut Hill Academy in the first round of the Inter-Ac Tournament yesterday. The Quakers established a 7-2 lead heading into halftime and extended their lead to 11-2 in the second half before eventually settling for the 13-6 victory.

Eight different players accounted for a combined 13 goals—Luke Brogan, Peter Malitas, Gavin Tygh, Ryan Dickson and Jayce Dyer each scored two goals for PC. Liam LaBarge, Nick DiCicco and Blake Target added the other three goals.

Junior Gavin Tygh was impressive in faceoffs, winning 17 of 20 to pace the offense, while goalkeeper and junior classmate Carson Marano recorded nine saves. The team will be back in action on Friday, May 18, for the second round of Inter-Ac Tournament hosted at Cabrini University in Radnor.

Girls lacrosse traveled to Episcopal Academy for the last game of the regular season, but suffered a tough 16-3 loss on the road. Sophomore Leah Sax scored two goals for the Quakers and eighth-grader Lane Murray also added to the scoreboard. The team will play in the first round of the PAISAA State Tournament on Friday, May 18, at home on Maguire Field.

Go Charter!

The spirit of Penn Charter athletics is built on a storied tradition of excellence and the belief that the interplay of academics, arts and athletics leads to strong, creative, resilient and flexible people.

Skilled teachers and coaches help our students understand – whether on the playing field or in the classroom – how to collaborate and compete, how to win with grace, and how to handle challenges and setbacks.

Our school cheer is: Go Charter!

We appreciate the student athletes who are now powering PC to great feats, and look forward to welcoming those who will do so in the future. Also, of course, we eternally appreciate the efforts of all OPCs!
