Milestones for Girls Basketball

As this season is coming to an end, the girls’ basketball team deserves some special recognition. Last Friday, the girls defeated Catholic League power Neumann Goretti, 59-43. During the first few minutes, Dianna Thomas Palmer reached the 1000-point total for her career! Dianna is a team captain and 12th grader who has been an integral part of this team for four years. Dianna has overcome the impact of a torn ACL during her sophomore year to lead her team to much success the past couple of years. Dianna signed a National Letter of Intent back in November and will study and play basketball at HofstraUniversity next year.

A second team milestone was reached in yesterday’s home game with archrival GermantownAcademy. It was Senior Day and prior to the start of this final regular season home game, Head Coach Dave Bass proudly introduced three senior players and two managers. MaryKate O’Brien, Dianna Thomas-Palmer, Danielle Sienko and managers Gabriella Balsam, Nyjai Taliaferro all gathered at center court with their parents. Each girl was recognized for their contributions, talents and dedication to the PC girls’ basketball program. The game began shortly afterwards. The seniors and their other teammates were psyched and brought their best to this game. The girls got out front early and never looked back on the way to a convincing 52-36 win! This marked our first victory over GA’s powerful girls’ basketball program in 15 years! It was certainly a joyous day as this team and especially the seniors left the gym after this well-deserved victory. The team has a final regular season game atBaldwinthis Friday. On Monday, they playSoleburySchoolat PC in the first round of the State Independent School Tournament.

Congratulations Penn Charter girls basketball team... your victory over GA has been several years in the making and you guys finally did it.  Great work Dianna, Mary Kate & Danielle leading your teammates... Since I wasn't there to record the game like I used to, it would be nice if the game is posted on the Internet.  Please email me if so... I'd really like to check it out.

Congratulations to you all ... :)  Now bring home that trophy from the State independent School Tournament and post that game on the net too. (Bri's aunt, Cheri)
