Does your child like to tinker? Is he/she interested in designing and building things? If so, the Engineering Camp is the perfect place to spend the week.
Space is limited to 25 campers.
Steven Wade (aka “Science Steve”) a National Board-Certified Teacher and a member of Penn Charter’s science department and Lower School faculty, will be teaching this week-long maker camp. Wade has been teaching inquiry-based science for more than 20 years. He will be assisted by some terrific staff from Penn Charter’s Day Camp.
Campers will design, build and test a project with Little Bits that they can take home.
Who doesn’t like Legos? This will be a fun intro into robotics and programing. Our Lego WeDo Robots are especially designed for young children.
Everything slimy, gooey, slippery and sticky! We will explore slime, gooey worms, gravity goo, and jelly marbles. Did I mention it’s really slimy!
It’s a color mixing fun day!
We will investigate rainbow tubes, uv beads, kaleidoscopes, color mixing tabs and gel, and color chromatography, rainbow peepholes.
Everything that blasts off! From baking soda canisters, mentos and cola, to water and foam rockets. Be careful you may get wet!
Friday-Keep Blasting Off!!
Finishing our water bottle rockets, we will go outside to blast them off!
Schedule includes daily free swim and recreational activities.
Don't feel like packing lunch in the summertime? Try our lunch option. Campers will be served a nutritious and balanced meal with various choices. Daily offerings will include one entree (salad, sandwich or grill item) one small drink, and one snack or fruit. Cost: $6/day, $30/week. Campers are encouraged to sign up in advance if interested in this option, although cash “drop-ins” will be accepted. The lunch option is not available for Junior Bunks (most three-, four- and five-year-olds). No refunds/credits for missed days/weeks.
Interested families may enroll in the extended-day option by indicating so in the appropriate space on the application. Campers may enroll in the Early-Bird Program, the After-Camp Program or both. Families who need this service occasionally or in an emergency must contact the director, and cash payment must be received the day the service is provided.
