Penn Charter takes athletics seriously.

We teach students how to collaborate and compete, how to win with grace, and how to handle challenges and setbacks—all while having fun and improving health and fitness.

A Legacy of Competition

Part of the Inter-Academic League and home to one of the oldest prep school rivalries in the country, the Penn Charter Quakers have won countless championships. Many graduates go on to play their sport in college, and some professionally.

A Commitment to Student-Athletes

All athletic teams at Penn Charter strive to provide quality instruction to student-athletes and to develop the core values that stem from our Quaker beliefs and practices.

The spirit of Penn Charter athletics is built on a storied tradition of excellence and the belief that the interplay of academics, arts and athletics leads to strong, creative, resilient and flexible people.

Athletes Play in College

Each year, approximately 30 percent of Penn Charter's graduating class is recruited for sports.

Graduates continue their athletic careers at NCAA Division I, II and III colleges and universities from a diverse range of conferences: Ivy and Patriot League, Centennial and NESCAC Conferences, ACC, Big10, PAC12, and others.

To assist student-athletes and their parents in this often complicated and nuanced process, the College Counseling Office, in cooperation with the Athletic Department, hosts an athletic recruiting workshop every other fall for all Upper School families who hope to continue with their sport in college.

Teams

I have learned you must stay consistent with anything you do. It is what makes you better at something, whether it is practicing, lifting weights, or studying. I learned this through running because it doesn’t matter if you run hard once a week; to get better, you must stay consistent—a discipline I plan to practice in college.
